Costa Rica signed the Treaty of Tlatelolco on February 14, 1967, ratified the Treaty on August 25, 1969 and on that same date presented its declaration of waiver of the requirements indicated in Article 29, paragraph 2, of the Treaty of Tlatelolco.
Costa Rica signed a Nuclear Safeguards Agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on July 12, 1973, in accordance with Article 13 of the Treaty of Tlatelolco.
Costa Rica signed the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) on July 1, 1968 and ratified it on March 3, 1970 in Washington.
Costa Rica signed the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) on September 24, 1996 and ratified it on September 25, 2001.
Costa Rica signed the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPAN) on September 20, 2017 and ratified it on July 5, 2018.
