Welcome to OPANAL

This site is dedicated to the disemination of timely and accurate information surrounding the continuing efforts towards global nuclear disarmament. Since its founding in 1960s in the the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, The Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean, continues to serve as an example for other regions who continue to struggle with nuclear disarment, with the goal of establishing Nuclear-Weapons-Free Zones (NWFZs). Further, this site seeks to provide increased access to information on the Treaty of Tlatelolco, the world's first Nuclear-Weapons-Free Zone. It is our hope that this site will serve to educate and inform about the international efforts towards the prohibition of nuclear weapons and furthering the efforts of the non-prolifertion regime, which is the bedrock for the disarmament of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.
